The criminal case initiated against a local resident Khasan Edilkhanov, a suspect of involvement in the war in Syria for the militants, who was detained at Moscow airport, has been delivered ton the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 27 power agents detained, in the arrivals area of the "Sheremetyevo" Airport, Khasan Edilkhanov, a 20-year-old native of Chechnya, who arrived from Thailand. The detention of the former students of the Russian I. M. Gubkin State University of Oil and Gas was reported by the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".
The investigation into Edilkhanov's case is over, and on December 16 it was sent to the Chechen SC.
"According to special services, last November Edilkhanov left the university and went via Turkey to Syria, where he joined Islamists, and for several months participated in hostilities against governmental forces," said a source from the Chechen Prosecutor's Office.
In her turn, Roza Magomedova, the advocate, says that investigators have no evidence that Edilkhanov participated in the warfare in Syria.
According to the defence, Edilkhanov left Russia not for Syria, but for Turkey, and from there – for Thailand to go in for sports.
