Dadaev's advocate asks CoA to acquit his client
Selim Magomedov, the advocate of the convicted Alautdin Dadaev, has stated that the sentence passed by the court in the case of the terror acts committed in Volgograd disregarded the arguments of the defence, while the verdict as such was based on investigators' speculations. The appeal complaint lodged by the defence demands from the court to acquit Dadaev.
According to investigators, Djamaltin Mirzaev, the leader of the "Kadar" terrorist grouping, jointly with active members of this illegal armed formation (IAF) Yusup Yakhyaev, Nasrullah Temirkhanov and Arsen Dadaev planned to commit a terror act in Volgograd in late 2013.
In the opinion of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), these people had trained the suicide bombers Asker Samedov and Suleiman Magomedov.
According to the Dadaev's advocate, at sentencing, the district court committed procedural violations, which "diminish the authority of the judiciary and cast doubt on its objectivity, fairness and impartiality."
The advocate said that his client told at the trial that he admitted the fact that he had helped IAF members, but he was not a member thereof. Selim Magomedov has added that at trial Dadaev expressed fear for his life and lives of his family members.
It is expected that the consideration of the complaints will take place not before mid-January 2015, said a source from the Court of Appeal (CoA).
