ANC criticizes investigation into attack on Aram Manukyan
The "Armenian National Congress" (ANC) Party does not agree with the charge against Arshak Svazyan, who is suspected of attacking Aram Manukyan, the secretary of the faction in the Parliament. The ANC demands to reclassify the charge and choose an article providing more severe punishment, a representative of the ANC has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 11, Aram Manukyan, the secretary of the parliamentary faction of the oppositional "Armenian National Congress", was attacked near the entrance to his house. Arshak Svazyan, a local resident, was detained on suspicion of the attack on Aram Manukyan. On December 20, Arshak Svazyan was charged with intentional infliction of bodily harm.
On December 20, Armen Khachatryan, the coordinator of the legal department of the ANC, told journalists that investigators should have taken into account the presence of the topographic examination. It shows bodily harm and, in particular, brain concussion, which is an injury of moderate severity.
Armen Khachatryan has also added that he has no doubt that Aram Manukyan was attacked for political reasons. "This fact should serve as one more reason to reclassify the charge against Arshak Svazyan," said the coordinator of the legal department of the ANC. He has explained that the ANC intends to file a motion to reclassify the charge against Arshak Svazyan.
