New ferry for crossing Kerch Strait arrives in "Kavkaz" Port

The transport collapse at the Kerch ferry crossing, which promised to be a real nightmare for drivers, did not happen because of lower flow of tourists after bad weather forecasts. Besides, a new ferry boat will start working next week.

Before the May holidays, the ports of the Kerch ferry crossing saw an increased the number of travellers' cars, who moved across the Kerch Strait for leisure. Because of road works before the "Kavkaz" Port, drivers were afraid of possible of traffic jams this weekend.

However, there was no traffic collapse at the crossing, as the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by employees of the Marine Station of "Kavkaz" Port. In their opinion, the reason was in bad weather forecasts – in the coming days, the Crimea will have cloudy weather and expected rains.

On Friday, a new ferry boat "Protoporos-4" arrived in "Kavkaz" Port, which will help to relieve the line, said Nikolai Perfiliev, an employee of the Marine Station.

"It will start operating right after the holidays. Its capacity is 200 cars and 600 passengers," he added.
