Yulia Parpulova refuses to testify in case against her father

Today, an FSB investigator has questioned Yulia Parpulova, a daughter of Pyotr Parpulov, a resident of Sochi, accused of treason. Yulia Parpulova has refused to answer the questions of the investigator.

According to Yulia Parpulova, the investigator tried to force her to sign recognizance not to leave. However, she has denied that and refused to testify in the case with reference to Article 51 of the Constitution, according to which a person may refuse to testify against family members.

According to the woman, the investigator invited her with the intention to grant her the status of a witness and thus ensure official justification for banning her visits to her father.

"I believe the questions the investigator have voiced do not refer to his suggested desire to understand whether my father is guilty or not," Yulia Parpulova has emphasized.

According to her, for six months, no investigating actions are carried out in the case against her father. "The sick middle-aged man is just being kept at the SIZO (pre-trial prison). And he is under custody for the crime he allegedly committed in 2010. If it is such a serious crime, then why does the FSB recall it only now and not nearly five years ago?" Yulia Parpulova has noted.

  • Religion experts explain motives for militants’ attacks on synagogue and temple in Dagestan
