History Museum of Armenia opens new exhibition on Armenian Genocide

At the "Museum Night", the History Museum of Armenia has presented to the visitors a new exhibition hall "World War I and the Armenian Genocide". It was opened in the framework of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

On the eve of the "Museum Night", the exhibition included new exhibits, in particular, paintings from the cultural heritage of the Armenian people. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Lida Galstyan, a staff member of the History Museum of Armenia. The exhibit hall presents to the public about 100 exhibits; however, according to Lida Galstyan, the museum fund includes much more exhibits.

The exhibition consists of three parts: "Armenia before the Armenian Genocide", "World War I", and "Armenian Genocide". The first section presents family photos and things from homes of Western Armenians.

According to Lida Galstyan, visitors draw their special attention to the exhibit representing a tapestry of pieces of clothing of Armenian refugees fleeing from the genocide.

"It was woven by refugees in camps and shelters. The tapestry shows a woman on a background of a man as a sign of procreation," said the staff member of the History Museum of Armenia.

Lida Galstyan has also showed a necklace made of beads, each of which bears engraved names of figures of the Armenian intellectuals, including poets, musicians, publicists, lawyers, doctors, editors, and deputies, who were killed on April 24, 1915. Researchers of the History Museum of Armenia have collected information about each of them.

According to Lida Galstyan, the exhibition is of great interest to visitors of the History Museum of Armenia.
