Azerbaijani MIA reports detention of 21 protesters in Mingachevir

During the dispersal of the protest action in the city of Mingachevir, four policemen suffered, says the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the police have dispersed a protest action, held in Mingachevir in connection with the death of a local resident Bakhruz Gadjiev in the city police department.

The statement of the MIA says that on August 20 Bakhruz Gadjiev, a resident of Mingachevir, who was suspected of drug dealing, while being interrogated in a rooms of the city police department, "suddenly jumped out of the window."

It is also noted that on August 22, after the funeral of the deceased, "a group of residents grossly violated the public order, exposed rowdy behaviour and tried to hold a march in the city centre."

"While stopping the illegal actions, four policemen received injuries of different severity," says the MIA, adding that 21 participants of the action in Mingachevir were detained.

The city is still watching "tension and dissatisfaction with law enforcers' actions," said a local activist.
