Head of Ingushetia offers to deprive those who join IS of Russian citizenship

The Russians, who have left to fight for the "Islamic State" (IS), should be deprived of Russian citizenship, said the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov. According to his version, there is already a respective bill.

Mr Evkurov believes that the main recruitment for the IS is conducted via the Internet.

Andrei Klishas, the Chairman of the Committee for Constitutional Legislation of the Russia's Federation Council, said the upper house of the parliament would not support the above bill.

"The proposals about the deprivation of citizenship of those Russian citizens, who have committed any crimes, including departure to fight for the IS, are contrary to the Constitution," the "Govorit Moskva" (Moscow Speaking) quotes Mr Klishas as saying.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in January this year, with the help of the regional adaptation commission, a resident of Ingushetia, who was going to fight in Syria, was returned from Turkey to homeland. The commission was set up in September 2011; and since then, according to Albert Barakhoev, the Acting Secretary of the Security Council of Ingushetia, they managed to return home and adapt 64 persons.
