Khamkhoev chides Evkurov for supporting mosques that separated from rural communities

The Mufti of Ingushetia Isa-Hadji Khamkhoev called the reason of his disagreement with the head of the republic Yunus-Bek Evkurov in the latter's support of the mosques that separated from rural communities. According to Khamkhoev, the position of the authorities could lead to new conflicts.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 26, in his page on the Instagram, Evkurov criticized the republic's Spiritual Centre of Muslims (SCM) and offered the Muftiyat to accept the resignation of the Mufti Isa Khamkhoev. The Ingush leader sees the reason in the SCM's reaction to a mass brawl that broke this summer in the Nasyr-Kort mosque of Nazran, which "undermines the authority of the official clergy."

On December 27, Khamkhoev used the SCM's page on the Facebook to express his opinion about the reason of his disagreement with the head of Ingushetia.

"In our republic, there are many cases, when a certain group of people, while accusing the community of a village of disbelief and innovations... builds separate mosques and splits from the united Jamaat. People with such beliefs in no case should receive people's support, and, especially, support of the authorities," he wrote.

The Mufti has also stressed that currently there are many religious views on minor issues, "which should not split the Muslim Ummah." He considers accusations of other Muslims of disbelief to be some pernicious ideology, which "must be suppressed."
