According to Fariz Namazly, an advocate of the victim party, the public prosecutor has asked the court to find all the defendants guilty under Article 126.3 (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, resulted in death of a victim by negligence). Furthermore, the public prosecutor has asked the court to find Elshan Ismayilov and Arif Aliev also guilty under Article 177.1 (theft) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

The next court hearing is scheduled for March 1.

"We are unhappy by the fact that the investigators and the court failed to bring to responsibility the doctors of the city clinical centre, who provided Rasim Aliev with medical treatment," Fariz Namazly has stated.

Rasim Aliev was a member of the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety (IRFS). His colleagues do not rule out that Rasim Aliev wad been beaten in revenge for his journalistic activities.
