Kremlin declines to clarify Ramzan Kadyrov's fate

The question concerning the further term of Ramzan Kadyrov at the post of the leader of the Chechen Republic is premature, since his current term of office has not expired yet. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press spokesman for the President of Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 23, Ramzan Kadyrov announced that he had no desire to continue to lead the republic. In April 2015, he had already declared his willingness to resign from the post of the leader of Chechnya. Experts called the above statements a "grandstand play".

According to Dmitry Peskov, the decision on the future of Ramzan Kadyrov "will be made at the end of his term of office."

Ramzan Kadyrov leads Chechnya since February 15, 2007. In March 2011, under the proposal of Dmitry Medvedev, then Russian President, the Parliament of the Chechen Republic approved Ramzan Kadyrov for the second term of office. The next leader of Chechnya will be elected by direct voting. Candidates for the post of the Chechen leader will be nominated by political parties. Starting from April 2016, Chechnya will be led by the acting head of the republic to be appointed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Let us remind you that by the end of the Ramzan Kadyrov's term of office, the pro-Kremlin "FoRGO" Foundation downgraded the rating of the Chechen leader in the final ranking of governors in 2015. Recently, the leader of Chechnya has attracted people's attention by attacking the non-systemic opposition.
