Advocate states disappearance of Dagestani resident after arrest

Relatives and the advocate of Magomed Akhmeddibirov, a resident of the Buynaksk District of Dagestan, who was arrested for 10 days for an administrative offense, can not establish his whereabouts after the expiry of the arrest term.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomed Akhmeddibirov, a resident of the village of Nizhnee Kazanische, was under administrative arrest since February 24 for the term of 10 days. Magomed Akhmeddibirov, born in 1985, is a Category II disabled person and figures as a witness of a murder of two elderly fellow villagers. According to the Public Oversight Commission (POC), after the arrest of Magomed, his advocate could see him only three days later.

His arrest expired at night on March 5, the advocate Khamzat Ilyasov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"At three o'clock in the morning, when his arrest was to expire, according to the documents, his relatives and I arrived at the building of the detention centre in Makhachkala; but they told us that he had been released an hour ago," said the advocate. "By the law, they had no right to release the arrested person in advance, before the time indicted in the documents. Moreover, the whereabouts of Magomed is unknown until now. He did not return home; and police stations deny that they keep him."

He said that fears provocations staged by power agents.
