Resident of Chechnya suspected of recruiting his acquaintance to IS

In Chechnya, a criminal case was opened against a local resident, who, as investigators believe, persuaded his acquaintance to take part in the warfare in Syria for the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a source from the Investigating Department (ID) for Chechnya of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) that a criminal case against the man was opened on April 7.

"It was established that a few months ago, the suspect Hussein Ibragimov persuaded his acquaintance to take part in the warfare in Syria in the ranks of the IS. Despite the fact that Ibragimov's actions had all the attributes of a crime under Part 1, Article 205.1, of the Russian Criminal Code, the investigator made a decision not to open a criminal case against him. In late March, the republic's Prosecutor's Office overturned this decision; and investigatory actions were launched on April 7," said a source from the ID.

According to his story, should Ibragimov's guilt be proved, he will faces from 5 to 10 years in prison with the imposition of a fine of up to 500,000 roubles.
