Imam of "Eastern" mosque of Khasavyurt arrested for two months

On April 9, the court pronounced the pre-trial restriction against Magomednabi Magomedov, Imam of the Khasavyurt "Eastern" mosque, in the form of detention in custody for two months.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 8, in Khasavyurt, law enforcers detained Magomednabi Magomedov, Imam of the "Eastern" mosque. According to eyewitnesses, the Imam was detained when he came to the local ROVD (District Interior Division) and demanded to release the believers of the "Hospital" mosque detained earlier. The law enforcement authorities assert that the Imam urged believers to terrorist activities and published on the Internet "materials aimed at inciting hatred."

"The Soviet District Court of Makhachkala has taken the Imam into custody for two months. In court, we have learned that yet on March 29, the criminal case was instituted against the Imam under Part 1 of Article 205.2 and Part 1 of Article 282 ('Public calls to terrorist activities or public justification of terrorism' and 'Incitement of hatred or hostility, and humiliation of human dignity', note of the 'Caucasian Knot'). The charge is filed against him under the same articles," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by relatives of the Imam.

The decision of the court also mentions that the court was also provided with the information of the Russian FSB Department for Dagestan stating that Magomednabi Magomedov wanted to escape from the preliminary investigation.
