Victims of "Domodedovo" terror act promise to recall their lawsuits from ECtHR after receiving compensations

Upon receipt of compensations for the harm suffered at the 2011 terror act at the "Domodedovo" Airport, the victims would recall their complaints from the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), said their advocate Igor Trunov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 10, the advocate reported that 40 victims had put forward multi-million-dollar lawsuits to the "Domodedovo" Airport, but in case of receiving their compensations, they are ready to settle their claims to the leadership of the airport by means of amicable agreement. Today, it became known that the airport has set up a charitable fund to help the victims.

On January 24, 2011, the explosion at "Domodedovo" killed 37 people and wounded 172 others. According to investigators, the explosive device was triggered by a suicide bomber Magomed Evloev. Four senior officials of "Domodedovo", including the co-owner Dmitry Kamenschik, are accused of poor organization of screening visitors to the airport.

The initial amount of the fund will make about 150 million roubles; in the first order, compensations will be paid to people with disabilities in need of treatment.

After paying the compensations, Kamenschik will be able to keep his control over the "Domodedovo", the journalist Yulia Latynina said on air of the "Echo Moskvy" Radio.

Let us remind you that Dmitry Kamenschik had denied the guilt of the airport staff, insisting that prior to the terror act there was no requirement in the legislation to inspect all the people coming into the building of the terminal.

  • Lawyers doubt prospect of bills banning religious clothes
