Law enforcers report on killing leader of Derbent grouping affiliated with IS

Recently, during a shootout in Dagestan, law enforcers killed Abutdin Khanmagomedov, the suspected leader of a group of militants, sworn allegiance to the "Islamic State" (IS), and his accomplice Radjab Ismailov. This was reported by sources from the law enforcement bodies.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 28, a shootout occurred between the villages of Rukel and Mitagi-Kazmalyar in the Derbent District. Two militants were killed in the course of the special operation, reports a source from the law enforcement bodies of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD).

"According to the preliminary information, both militants were involved in the 'Derbent' criminal grouping, whose members committed a terror act at the Djemikent police checkpoint in the Derbent District on February 15 and shelled tourists at Naryn-Kala Fortress," the "TASS" quotes the source from the law enforcement bodies as reporting.

One of the killed men "was identified as Abutdin Khanmagomedov, born in 1985, the leader of the 'Derbent' criminal grouping."

Meanwhile, Rajab Ismailov was also killed by the law enforcers. He "was engaged in accomplice activities and joined the illegal armed formation (IAF) not long ago," the "Interfax" reports.

According to the law enforcement bodies, in the summer of 2015, a grouping led by Abutdin Khanmagomedov swore allegiance to the "Islamic State" (banned in the Russian Federation). Investigators believe that Abutdin Khanmagomedov was involved in the murder of family members of a fortune-teller in the village of Rubas committed in last September and in the shelling of fire-fighters in the vicinity of the village of Muzaim in last December.
