In Nagorno-Karabakh, 543 people received one-time financial assistance from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Each of them got assistance the amount of 75,000 drams (about 156 US dollars).

At night on April 2, the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone was sharply escalated. The parties to the conflict started combat actions involving tanks, aircrafts, and artillery-type weapons. On April 5, ceasefire was announced.

In mid-April, the ICRC mission in Nagorno-Karabakh held a rapid assessment of the economic needs of the people, who had to leave their houses as a result of the April escalation. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Eteri Musaelyan, the press secretary of the ICRC mission.

"We found out that the people from the villages of Talysh, Tonashen, and Mataghis were most affected by the hostilities. And, starting from April 28, we provide financial assistance to the displaced persons of the above villages, who are registered by the Office for territorial resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh and who are most in need," said Eteri Musaelyan.
