Sochi Communists do not support idea of fair election agreement

The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) will not sign the draft agreement on fair elections to the State Duma initiated by the Sochi authorities, since it makes no sense to sign an agreement on the concept required by the law. This was announced by the leader of the Sochi Communists.

On July 1, at the meeting at the city administration, a proposal to conclude an agreement on fair elections to the State Duma to be held on September 18, 2016, was announced by members of the Sochi branches of the political parties. Representatives of all political parties were invited to attend the meeting. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Konstantin Chebotar, Vice-Mayor of Sochi, who initiated the event.

"The leaders of all the parties have agreed to that," Konstantin Chebotar has told today the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In his comments to the "Caucasian Knot", Igor Vasiliev, the leader of the Communist Party Branch in Sochi, has denied the statement of the Sochi Vice-Mayor concerning the willingness of all the local parties to sign the proposed agreement on fair elections. The leader of the Sochi Communists treats the signing of such an agreement as inappropriate.

"Falsification of elections is a criminal offense. When leaders of political parties are invited 'to sign an agreement on holding fair elections,' it's still like offering an offender, who earlier stole and robbed people and was not punished, to sign an agreement that he would not be involved in stealing and robbing any more. The CPRF has been never engaged in election fraud, and therefore, we do not need to sign such an agreement. Let it be signed by those who are able to commit falsifications," Igor Vasiliev has explained his position.
