Experts: protest electorate to lose from PAC's decision to boycott Dagestani elections

In Dagestan, the refusal of the "People Against Corruption" (PAC) Party to take part in the parliamentary elections can split the protest electorate in the country. This opinion was voiced by Dagestani journalists.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the PAC Party refused to take part in the parliamentary elections in Dagestan. Members of the Party explain their decision to boycott the elections to the People's Assembly of Dagestan by the administrative pressure from the authorities.

According to Magomed Magomedov, a political observer of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft), the refusal of the PAC Party to take part in the elections "indicates the split in society."

"Part of the voters will not go to the elections in protest. Another part will traditionally vote for the ruling party or affiliated parliamentary parties. And the third part of voters will give their voices in favour of the 'Rodina' (Homeland) or the LDPR (Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia)," suggests Magomed Magomedov.

Milrad Fatulaev, the editor-in-chief of the website of the RIA "Derbent", agrees that the voters of the PAC Party can give their voices to the "Rodina" Party.

"The second part of the party voters will support the Communist Party. The third part of voters will become radical in their protest, and they may even refuse to take part in the elections," the journalist believes.
