Members of "Izberbash" grouping suspected of shelling policemen in Dagestan
The murder of two policemen in Izberbash involves members of a local terrorist grouping. Earlier, they attacked a group of tourists and killed two persons in the vicinity of the village of Sergokala, investigators report.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 12, in the vicinity of the town of Izberbash, unidentified attackers opened fire on a squad of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS). Two policemen were killed.
According to the "Kommersant", the attack occurred on the federal highway "Kavkaz". The attackers drove up to the parking lot of truckers, located next to the cafe "Astara". Four passengers of a foreign-made car armed with submachine guns jumped out of the car, ran up to a police car and shelled two DPS inspectors. The policemen died at the place from the wounds they got. The attackers took their service weapons and fled in a car that was waiting for them at the side of the road.
Members of the Izberbash terrorist grouping are suspected of involvement in the attack, the "Kommersant" reports with reference to a source from the investigating bodies.
According to the source, one month earlier, members of the Izberbash terrorist grouping attacked tourists on a picnic in the vicinity of the village of Sergokala, when cousins Magomed and Abdurashid Nurbagandov were killed.
