On tenth day of Olympic Games, natives of Caucasus win six medals

On August 15, natives of Northern and Southern Caucasus won six medals at the Olympic Games in Brazil. Three medals were won by athletes of the Russian national team, and each of the national teams of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Belarus won one medal.

Davit Chakvetadze, born in the Georgian city of Kutaisi, a member of the Russian national team, became Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling in the weight category of up to 85 kilograms. One more gold medal was won by Evgeny Tischenko, a native of the Kanevsky District of the Krasnodar Territory, who competed in boxing in the weight category of up to 91 kg.

At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Simon Martirosyan, an Armenian weightlifter, won the silver medal in the weight category of up to 105 kg.

Sergey Semenov, a Greco-Roman wrestler from the Krasnodar Territory, won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in the weight category of up to 130 kg. He has shared the third place at the Olympics with Sabakh Shariati, an athlete from Azerbaijan. One more bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in the weight category of up to 85 kg was won by Djavid Gamzatov, a native of the Dagestan town of Kizilyurt, representing Belarus at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, reports the Belarusian portal "Capital TV Channel".
