In total, six persons arrested for beating Armenian journalists

The court has pronounced the pre-trial restriction measure in the form of arrest against two other persons accused of abuse of power and obstruction of journalists' activities during a protest action in Yerevan. This has been reported today by the Special Investigating Service of Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 9, the Special Investigating Service of Armenia charged four policemen with unreasonable actions during a protest action. On August 10, two more persons were detained on suspicion of obstructing the professional activities of journalists.

On July 17, in Yerevan, supporters of the "Constituent Parliament" seized the building of the patrol-and-post police service. The rebels held the building up to July 31. On July 29, activists held a march in support of the rebels. The march was dispersed by the police. As a result, 55 marchers and four policemen were hospitalized. Journalists were also injured in the dispersal of the protest action. In total, 20 media representatives were injured. Of them, 17 were recognized as victims in the criminal case. This was reported by the Special Investigating Service of Armenia on August 10.

The charge has been filed against other two policemen suspected of unreasonable actions during the protest action. This has been told today to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by an officer of the press service of the Special Investigating Service of Armenia.

According to him, at the request of the investigators, the court has pronounced against the suspects the pre-trial restriction measure in the form of arrest.
