Yuri Kokov reports on arsenal discovered at place of special operation in Saint Petersburg
The militants killed last week in Saint Petersburg were plotting terror acts on the territory of Russia, and after that they were going to escape abroad. This was reported by Yuri Kokov, the leader of Kabardino-Balkaria. According to him, weapons and ammunition were seized at the place of the special operation.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 17, law enforcers carried out a special operation in a high-rise building in Saint Petersburg. According to investigators, four militants, residents of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), were killed in the course of the special operation in the residential building.
According to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), the number of the killed militants included Zalim Shebzukhov, one of the leaders of North-Caucasus militants, and militants Astemir Sheriev and Vyacheslav Nyrov, who were on the federal wanted list. Another killed suspect was identified as Aslan Kurashinov, an accomplice of militants.
Earlier, the experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have expressed their doubts that Zalim Shebzukhov arrived in Saint Petersburg to commit a terror act. According to Akhmet Yarlykapov, Senior Researcher of the Centre for Ethno-Political Studies of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Science (RAS), Zalim Shebzukhov tried to "get out of the game" and leave for Finland.
