Court leaves Araik Khandoyan of "Sasna Tsrer" in custody

In Yerevan, the court has dismissed the appeal against the arrest of Karabakh war veteran Araik Khandoyan, a member of the squad "Sasna Tsrer".

On July 17-31, the armed group "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun), which included supporters of the opposition movement "Constituent Parliament", held a building of the patrol-and-post service of the police regiment in Yerevan. In the criminal case of the seizure of the police building, the charges were brought against 47 people. Araik Khandoyan is charged with hostage-taking and illegal possession of weapons.

Araik Papikyan, an advocate of the defendant, has noted that Araik Khandoyan did not attend the court hearing.

"The court has pronounced one more political decision. The Armenian Court of Appeal has become a notary's office, which assures the decisions on arrests issued by courts of first instance," Araik Papikyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
