IED defused in Dagestanskie Ogni
Law enforcers have defused an improvised explosive device (IED), found in the house of Gasan Abdulaev, the leader of the "Southern" grouping of militants, who was killed in June. This has been announced today by a source from the law enforcement bodies of Dagestan.
On August 30, in the city of Dagestanskie Ogni, during a search in the house of Gasan Abdulaev, who was killed earlier, law enforcers found an explosive device, made from a bucket stuffed with aluminium powder, potassium nitrate and other components. The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that June 17, Gasan Abdulaev (Abu Yasser), the leader of the "Southern" grouping of militants, was killed in a shootout with law enforcers in Dagestan. Law enforcers treated him as one of the leaders of North-Caucasian militants, who swore allegiance to the "Islamic State" (IS), recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia by court. The death of Gasan Abdulaev was officially confirmed by the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).
"The total capacity of [the IED] was about 4 kg of TNT equivalent," reported the NAC as quoted by the "TASS".
According to a press officer of the law enforcement authorities, combat engineers have destroyed the discovered IED at the place; no casualties or damages occurred as a result of mine clearance, the "TASS" reports.
