Gannushkina focuses her campaign on abuses committed by Chechen authorities

In Chechnya, the judicial system is under the executive branch of power; and money is spent not on recovery of villages, but on elite unnecessary projects, like "Argun City", said Svetlana Gannushkina, a candidate for the State Duma from the republic's branch of the "Yabloko" Party.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Svetlana Gannushkina, the Head of the "Civil Assistance" Committee, is in the lead of the Chechen regional coalition list of candidates for the State Duma of the "Yabloko" Party.

In her speeches, she mainly talks about various violations committed by the authorities of Chechnya, the absence of independent judiciary and the obedience of judges to the executive power. Svetlana Gannushkina also draws attention to the problem of actually unlimited powers possessed by the head of the republic.

According to her version, Chechen problems may be solved only through the change of power.

"The situation may be improved. Because of Ramzan Kadyrov's image, local residents have an impression that there's nobody else to elect; but this is not true. Many educated, intelligent people live in Chechnya; they are able to take responsibility and bring things into order. It's necessary to stop giant and senseless constructions, like the 'Argun City', Putin Avenue, and go to villages and restore them," Ms Gannushkina is sure.
