Dagestani authorities need to introduce external management at "Makhachkalavodokanal"

After the mass poisoning with water of residents of Makhachkala, Dagestani Prime Minister Abdusamad Khamidov announced the need for introduction of external state control over the "Makhachkalavodokanal". Musa Musaev, Mayor of Makhachkala, also believes that the company needs a radical change in the control system.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Makhachkala, the mass poisoning of water occurred after on October 27, city residents reported about supply of dirty water to their houses on completion of the works at the Miatli Hydro Power Plant (HPP). As of November 9, according to the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), 281 people still stay in hospitals.

On November 8, at the meeting of the Dagestani Security Council, Abdusamad Khamidov, the chairman of the government of Dagestan, announced an urgent need to introduce external state control over the "Makhachkalavodokanal".

"All the activities of the company are characterized by negligence," stated Abdusamad Khamidov as quoted by the website of the Dagestani leader.

According to the Mayor of Makhachkala, since its privatization, almost no repair works took place by the "Makhachkalavodokanal".

Meanwhile, an official of the Makhachkala Mayor's Office has also reported on supply of water to suburban districts of Makhachkala and on supply of water to social objects in full.

Starting from November 4, mass vaccination against hepatitis A is underway in Makhachkala. Earlier, the Minister for Public Health associated the small number of vaccinated people with rumours about dangers of vaccination. As of November 8, more than 33,000 people underwent vaccination.
