District police inspector: Magomed Magomedov put on police prevention registration list because of his 'appearance and beliefs'

On December 21, in Makhachkala, at the next court hearing held in the case of prevention registration of Magomed Magomedov, a former official of a Salafi mosque, the Soviet District Court listened to a district police inspector, whose report provoked the inclusion of the name of Magomed Magomedov in a police prevention registration list.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 16, the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala started the consideration of the claim filed by Magomed Magomedov against the MIA with a request to exclude his name from the prophylactic registration list.

The district police inspector told the Court that he got information that journalist Magomed Magomedov was a supporter of extremist movements. According to the policeman, he got the information about the extremist views of Magomed Magomedov from his neighbours, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

When an advocate asked the district police inspector, how, according to him, extreme views of journalist Magomed Magomedov were reflected, the policeman said that the first indicators were "a person's appearance, talks, and beliefs."

The advocate has asked the policeman to clarify what he means by the appearance of persons committed to extremism. Then the policeman has said that if a man shaves off moustache and wears a long beard and cuffed trousers, these are indicators that the man shares radical views. The policeman has also noted that he never spoke to Magomed Magomedov in person, never figured out his views, but compiled his report following questioning of the journalist's neighbours.
