Director General of "Rustavi-2" states being attacked in Tbilisi

The attack on Nika Gvaramiya, Director General of the "Rustavi-2" TV Company, was committed in one of the restaurants in the capital of Georgia. The victim said that he lost consciousness from the blow on his head.

According to Mr Gvaramiya, the lights went out suddenly in the restaurant; and someone struck him on the head. His friend sitting with him at the table was also attacked.

"I think the police will easily establish the attackers, since video cameras are on in the restaurant," the "Interfax" quotes today Nika Gvaramiya as saying.

A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the incident. The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) is questioning witnesses and Gvaramiya. According to the latter, there were two attackers; they were strangers for him, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
