Reporters state resumption of fight for post of Buynaksk Mayor

The Dagestani leadership continues seeking the resignation of Zacharia Amirov from the post of the Mayor of Buynaksk after his early return from vacations, the journalists Magomed Magomedov and Ramazan Rajabov have reported. According to their story, in case of Amirov’s resignation, the main contenders for the post are Islam Nurgudaev and Osman Osmanov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 18 the Mayor of Buynaksk Zacharia Amirov appointed Osman Osmanov to be First Deputy Mayor and imposed on him his Mayor’s duties for the time of his vacations. Osmanov was appointed to the post instead of Rasul Khanov.

According to Magomed Magomedov, a political observer of the weekly "Chernovik" (Draft), the administration of the head of the republic "tries to make Islam Nurgudaev, a Deputy of the National Assembly of Dagestan, the Mayor of Buynaksk."

"Islam Nurgudaev was a famous athlete; in Soviet times he won the highest titles. He was also the Vice President of the Boxing Federation of Dagestan," said the journalist.

Ramazan Rajabov, the editor of the politics section in the "Novoye Delo" newspaper, believes that the head of the republic supports the candidacy of Nurgudaev, considering him "the most influential of the remaining politicians in Buynaksk."

According to Rajabov, everything depends on Amirov’s actions – whether he agrees to "transfer the post to a man from Makhachkala, or opposes the republic’s authorities."
