On March 6-12, one person suffered in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week from March 6 to March 12, 2017, in the course of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, one person was injured; there was no information about any casualties. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
Attacks on law enforcers
On March 11, near the village of Endirei, Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, GIBDD (traffic police) inspectors tried to stop a car that was moving on the opposite lane of the road, but its driver would not stop. The inspectors began pursuing the car. In the area of the village of Karlanurt, the driver of the pursued VAZ car crushed into another car. Then, three men jumped out of the VAZ car, and opened fire at the inspectors. As a result, one inspector was slightly wounded and hospitalized. The attackers fled into the forest, leaving their car on the road. They are now being searched for.
Special and counterterrorist operations
On March 6, the Russian National Antiterrorists Committee (NAC) reported that as a result of the operation held jointly by the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), a "sleeping" unit associated with the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia, was neutralized. It consisted of four militants; one of them was killed in Derbent, three others were detained.
Disappearance
On March 7, Beslan Basnukaev, a 42-year-old resident of the settlement of Aslambek-Sheripovo of the mountainous Shatoi District of Chechnya, left his house in a VAZ-2107 car, saying that he was going to Grozny on business. Since then, there is no news from him, his mobile phone is off. His relatives and fellow villagers are searching for him. The police have refused to accept their application, saying that only three days after the person’s disappearance they may announce his/her search.
