Traders of burnt-down marketplace in Makhachkala demand compensations

Today, about 70 traders from the burned Makhachkala marketplace "Dagelektromash" have gathered for a new protest action. They have stated that they received no compensation for the lost property; and the marketplace restoration is slow. In its turn, the Makhachkala administration asserts that those most needy had received some help.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the above commodity marketplace "Dagelektromash", located in Irchy Kazak Street in Makhachkala burned down on March 31. The Mayoralty promised to pay compensations to traders and to release them from taxes for a year.

The traders, who gathered for the rally, have noted that they have no other work. They are sure that the city's administration is hindering the restoration of the marketplace, while, on the contrary, it had promised to help them.

Israfil Magomedov, the director of the marketplace, has promised that the facility would be restored as planned – within six months. According to his version, the works were impeded by a strong wind.

To help the fire victims, a charity fund was set up, but only the affected traders themselves are trying to raise money for the fund.
