Azerbaijani Education Deputy Minister promises to take into account protesting students' arguments

The students' dissatisfaction with the introduction of a state exam at the Azerbaijani State University of Languages (ASUL) will be taken into account by the University's Academic Council of the. The decision is pending on May 31, said Djeikhun Bairamov, Deputy Minister of Education of Azerbaijan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, a group of students of the final year of the ASUL have launched a protest against the introduction of the exit state exam. The action was stopped after Mr Bairamov came to the University.

"A few weeks before graduation, we were told that we should take a state examination, which include 720 questions in different disciplines. It's very difficult to get ready for a short time. We studied some of the disciplines in the first or second year and passed exams on them; nobody has any academic debts. It's illogical to take exams twice on the same subject, "said one of the university students.

In recent years, the graduates, at the end of the university course, wrote only a one-and-a-half-page report, said Afghan Abdullaev, the Rector.

According to his version, the final report should be written by those students, whose grades are above 91 points; there are 92 such students at in the ASUL. The rest of them must pass the state exam.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported about the students' protest at the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University. On October 21, 2013, at least 600 of them opposed the introduction of a written exam, demanding to leave the testing only.
