South Ossetia initiates international search for Saakashvili

The General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of South Ossetia has handed over to its Russian counterpart a list of persons to be put on the international wanted list on suspicion of committing war crimes in August 2008. The list includes Mikhail Saakashvili, a former President of Georgia, and 75 Georgian militaries, Anatoly Bibilov, the President of South Ossetia, has stated.

He made the statement during his visit to Abkhazia. According to Mr Bibilov, South Ossetia has also prepared documents for sending to consideration by the International Court of Justice in The Hague, however "the case has not progressed." "We don't understand the position of the International Court in relation to the atrocities, committed by Mikhail Saakashvili against South Ossetia," President Bibilov said.

In connection with the events of August 2008, South Ossetia has opened a criminal case containing more than 500 episodes of inflicting damage and over 1000 episodes related to killings, the TASS reports.
