Advocate to seek cancellation of verdict to Annik Kesyan and Marina Djandjgava

Advocate Ivan Pavlov, who represents the interests of Sochi residents Annik Kesyan and Marina Djandjgava, sentenced for high treasury and pardoned by the Russian President, have announced the intention to continue seeking the complete cancellation of the verdict.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Sochi residents Annik Kesyan and Marina Djandjgava, as well as Inga Tutisani were sentenced on the charge of high treason to 8, 12 and 6 years of imprisonment in a penal colony, respectively. On May 19, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" recognized the women as political prisoners. In July, the Russian President pardoned Annik Kesyan and Marina Djandjgava. According to the rights defenders, the verdicts pronounced against the women should also be cancelled.

Advocate Ivan Pavlov, who represents the interests of Annik Kesyan and Marina Djandjgava, has announced his intention to continue seeking the cancellation of the verdict, the TASS reported on July 29.

According to the advocate, the women will be released in ten days, and so far, the defence has already filed the appeals to the Supreme Court (SC) with a request to cancel the verdict.

Ivan Pavlov has also reported that the Supreme Court had already claimed the case materials in the Annik Kesyan's case. According to the advocate, the first instance court committed violations while pronouncing the verdicts and also considered the data publicly available as state secret, the "Lenta.ru" reports.
