FSIN reports verification of Aslan Cherkesov's complaint about torture
In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) has launched a verification after Aslan Cherkesov, who is serving his sentence in the Krasnoyarsk Territory for murdering a fan of the "Spartak" FC, complained about torture and beatings in a penal colony. This was reported by the FSIN Department.
Aslan Cherkesov, a native of Kabardino-Balkaria, was found guilty by the court of killing Yegor Sviridov, a football fan of the Moscow "Spartak" FC, and sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment in a high security colony. Aslan Cherkesov himself refused to plead guilty.
"A number of mass media have been published materials with the complaint filed by prisoner Aslan Cherkesov about torture and beatings in the penal colony where he is serving his sentence. According to the facts stated in the publications, the Russian FSIN's Chief Department for the Krasnoyarsk Territory is conducting verification," states the report posted today at the website of the Russian FSIN's Chief Department for the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
