Friends of singer Zelimkhan Bakaev do not exclude his kidnapping

Relatives of singer Zelimkhan Bakaev did not file a complaint about his disappearance to the law enforcement agencies of Chechnya. Friends of the Chechen singer suggest that Zelimkhan Bakaev could be kidnapped, while some others associate his disappearance with a conflict in the family.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since August 8, the whereabouts of Zelimkhan Bakaev, a 26-year-old native of Grozny, is unknown, and his mobile phone is switched off.

"No complaints from relatives about the Zelimkhan Bakaev's disappearance have been filed to the law enforcement agencies. His alleged disappearance on August 8 was reported by the media," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by an official from the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

Meanwhile, some friends of the Bakaev family still claim there is information about the possible kidnapping of Zelimkhan Bakaev by local law enforcers.

"He was last seen in Grozny in the afternoon on August 8. There are eyewitnesses who told his relatives that he was seized by people in military uniform and taken away to some unknown destination. It is completely unclear what could provoke the kidnapping. The relatives contact all their friends and acquaintances in attempts to find out his whereabouts," said a friend of the singer's family.
