"Patriots’ Alliance" promises weekly protests in Georgia

The today’s protest march of the "Patriots’ Alliance" Party in Tbilisi was not attended by activists of other oppositional forces; however, the party intends holding similar actions in different cities of the country on the weekly basis.

Today, near the building of the Georgian Parliament, protesters from the "Patriots’ Alliance" demanded to make a number of entries into the draft Constitution.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that David Tarkhan-Mouravi, one of the leaders of the "Alliance", has stated that the activists protest "against the authorities’ lies."

"None of the promises that the ‘Georgian Dream’ gave before the 2012 elections has been fulfilled. Our main demand is to write down in the Constitution that the restoration of Georgia’s territorial integrity is the uttermost mission of the state. It should be also written there that the formation of the national consciousness and the Georgian thinking in the younger generation is the foremost duty of the state. We also demand a fair social policy," he said.

"The main reason for our action is the fact that nothing has changed in the country for the past 25 years," said Ada Marshaniya, one of the party leaders and a Georgian MP.

According to her story, the main party’s goal is to establish contacts with Russia.

The next action is scheduled for September 24 in Batumi.
