Source reports dismissal of Chechen “Rosgvardia” regiment commander for extortions

The commander of one of the regiments of the “Rosgvardia” (National Guard of the Russian Federation) was beaten up and removed from his post in Chechnya after complaints of his subordinates about his systematic extortions from their salaries, a source from Chechen power structures told the "Caucasian Knot". However, the “Rosgvardia” administration has refuted the commander’s dismissal.

According to the source, several regiment servicemen appealed to the head of Chechnya about the commander’s actions; and the commander was removed from his post.

"He collected a sort of tribute from his subordinates; and quite a lot of money. This was done regularly; and they were sick and tired of those extortions and complained to Ramzan Kadyrov. Kadyrov's people came to the regiment to make a check; the facts got confirmed; and the commander was beaten up and dismissed," the source told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
