Turkish doctors select first patients for free surgeries in Grozny

On October 31, in Grozny, a group of ophthalmologists from Turkey began to select 120 patients to undergo surgeries for free. Many local residents failed to get to the medical examination because of long lines.

On October 30, Turkish ophthalmologists arrived in Grozny as part of an agreement between the Chechen Parliament's Committee for social policy, health and sports and the public organization "Doctors of the Planet" from Turkey.

An official from the Chechen Ministry for Public Health has reported it is the first time when Turkish ophthalmologists carry out such a large-scale charitable action in Chechnya. Specialists from Turkey will examine patients and conduct surgeries in Grozny until November 5.

Local residents complained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about long lines for admission to Turkish ophthalmologists at the Republican Clinical Hospital. According to the local residents, they learned about the Turkish specialists' arrival from their friends or relatives working for the system of the Chechen Ministry for Public Health.
