Sochi: fishermen complain about attack of elite yachts' guards

Local amateur fishermen have complained that they were attacked by guards of the moorage of expensive yachts in the Sochi Seaport. The fishermen claim that owners of the marine want to completely block the access of Sochi residents to berths in the yachting area.

On November 27, in the area of the berth, which in 2014 was converted into a moorage for private yachts (marine), a conflict broke out of guards with fishermen.

"I came to the seaport to rest and fish, but the yacht guard rushed on me and the other fishermen: he grabbed my fishing rods and threw them out. I had an upsurge of my blood tension. Who gave them the right to humiliate us and violate our rights?" Sergey Bernasovsky, a pensioner, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Tamara Romanova, a resident of Sochi, said that the staff of the moorage owner "is trying to blame the fishermen for using the moorage as a public toilet, stealing things from yachts, littering and for their unattractive clothes."

"All this is a lie; this is a place for citizens' meetings and rest; and for some retired fishermen it is a way to catch food," she noted.

According to Evgeny Tsal, the deputy head of the linear police department, in the Sochi Seaport fishermen "violate public order and sanitary standards."

Fences on the way to berths in the Sochi Seaport violate the law on amateur and sport fishing, said Mikhail Okhrimenko, a lawyer of the territorial bar association.
