Tbilisi protesters demand to release Saakashvili

The participants in the action organized by the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party outside the Ukrainian Embassy in Tbilisi, demanded from Kiev to "act fairly" and release the detained former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported citing Saakashvili's advocate that his client had gone on a hunger strike.

On Monday in Tbilisi a court session on Mikhail Saakashvili's case was held.

According to the UNM, up to a thousand activists took part in the rally.

"I believe that Saakashvili is fighting corruption... He has done a lot for Georgia, what the current authorities are unable to do for the country," said Felix Arutyunyan, one of the participants of the action.
