"Kommersant" reports Ramzan Kadyrov's role in liberation of doctors in Libya
Two doctors from Belarus, who in Libya were forced to continue working under their contracts, were released after the intervention of the Chechen leader, the "Kommersant" reports.
Today, doctors Inna Babush and Sergey Zdota will be delivered to Moscow, the "Kommersant" reports with reference to the press service of the Russian Contact Group on Libya under the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the State Duma.
In 2010, Inna Babush and Sergey Zdota came to Libya at the invitation of the authorities, but in October 2017, when their contracts expired, they were refused departure.
In February 2011, in Libya, a civil war broke out between supporters of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and the opposition.
Unidentified armed people seized the doctors' passports and kept them in an apartment, reported a source of the "Kommersant". "There was an attempt to accuse the doctors of making a medical mistake to force them to stay in Libya," the source reported.
In his Telegram, Ramzan Kadyrov has explained that on his behalf, Adam Delimkhanov, a State Duma member, was also involved in the release of the doctors.
It should be noted that the authorities of Chechnya regularly report on the return of women and children from Syria and Iraq.
