High jumper Lasitskene sets season indoor world record
Maria Lasitskene, a track-and-field athlete from Kabardino-Balkaria, has won the Dyachkov-Ozolin memorial tournament by having conquered 2.01 meters, setting the best result of the 2017-2018 winter season.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 23, 2017, Maria Lasitskene (her former surname Kuchina before she married a sports journalist Vladas Lasitskas in March 2017) got the first victory in the starting winter season by winning the traditional international track-and-field tournament "Christmas Starts", held in Minsk. On January 11, she won the All-Russian high and pole vault jump tournament in Chelyabinsk.
Today, Maria Lasitskene has won the memorial of Nikolai Ozolin and Vladimir Dyachkov tournament in Moscow, by jumping 2.01 meters in her first attempt, the TASS informs.
This result is the world best in this winter season. In Chelyabinsk, her result was 1.95 meters; while in Minsk, Lasitskene conquered the height of 2.00 meters, the "R-Sport" reports.
Let us remind you that the All-Russian Track-and-Field Athletics Federation recognized Maria as one of the two best athletes of 2017.
