At least 5000 rally against Sargsyan's Premiership

The organizers of the rally against the nomination of Serzh Sargsyan as country's Prime Minister have urged the citizens of Armenia to go on strike and invited other oppositional forces to join the protest.

At a rally in Yerevan on April 9, opponents of Serzh Sargsyan announced daily protests against the appointment of the former president as prime minister.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the today's action against Sargsyan's Premiership has brought together about 1200 people. Protesters blocked a street intersection in Yerevan, and then organized a march.

After the march, a rally began in Yerevan that was attended by 5-6 thousand people.

Levon Barsegyan, the head of the "Asparez" Journalists' Club from the town of Gyumri, appealed to all the oppositional forces of Armenia with a call to "join the fight against Serzh Sargsyan."

Nikol Pashinyan, an MP and the leader of the "Civil Accord" Party, has stated solidarity with all oppositional forces. He noted that the nature of rallies should change. According to his story, last night, in France Square, exactly 190 people stayed until the morning, "which means that the movement is under serious threat at night."

"We must ensure a crowded square around the clock, because the police is helpless against such a square," Mr Pashinyan said, adding that he himself would not leave the square.
