Political analysts: crisis in Yerevan not to affect Karabakh conflict

In Yerevan, protests against the election of Serzh Sargsyan the Prime minister will not lead to a change in the status of Nagorno-Karabakh, believe political analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot". Russia acts as a guarantor of the Nagorno-Karabakh's status, and protests in Yerevan are not of anti-Russian nature, Gevorg Mirzayan notes.

Armenia will not lose control over Karabakh until it breaks relations with Russia, but the progress of the protests does not give any grounds to talk about that yet. This opinion was voiced by Russian political analyst Gevorg Mirzayan.

He does not see any influence of Europe on the events in Armenia.

Azerbaijan can take advantage of instability in Armenia for an attack on Karabakh, but such attempts will lead to nothing, expert Andrei Areshev notes.

He believes the events in Armenia cannot be treated as a revolution and no real revolution is expected. According to the expert, protestors gradually leave the streets.

In the period of the earlier political aggravations inside Armenia, Azerbaijan made no attempts of attacks on Nagorno-Karabakh, and now no one should expect that, notes Alexander Karavaev, an employee of the Institute of Economics at the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

Azerbaijan will get no benefits from using the political crisis in Armenia to aggravate the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, since that will increase the Russian pressure on the parties to the conflict, Azerbaijani military experts note.

Meanwhile, Alexander Karavaev has not ruled out that the Armenian authorities could provoke aggravation of the military confrontation with Azerbaijan in order to divert attention from the internal crisis in the country.
