Tbilisi resident detained in South Ossetia

The authorities of South Ossetia have detained a 22-year-old resident of Tbilisi, Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, the Georgian Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, has stated. The young man had illegally crossed the border of South Ossetia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported.

According to Ms Tsikhelashvili, the detainee is a native of the Tskhinvali District. The Georgian authorities are taking measures to release him, the "Georgia-Online" reports.

The Minister has also expressed her fears for the detainee's safety, recalling the fate of another Georgian citizen, Archil Tatunashvili.

Archil Tatunashvili died on February 23 in a Tskhinvali hospital after being detained by South-Ossetian law enforcers. Only on March 20, his body was handed over to Georgia. In Georgia, experts fixed signs of torture on the body.

    The Oktiabrsky District Court of Novorossiysk has dismissed Yuri Mikhailov's lawsuit for compensation for the fact that after staying in jails in Novorossiysk and in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), he was infected with HIV and hepatitis.
