In Azerbaijan, two persons fell victim to earthquake

In Azerbaijan, after an earthquake, one person died from the stress he had suffered, and another one was hospitalized. The authorities and local residents reported cracks in the houses.

On June 5, the earthquake occurred in the territory of the Zaqatala District in Azerbaijan. The earthquake epicentre of 6 magnitude was registered at a depth of 12 kilometres, 24 kilometres south of the city of Zaqatala.

Today, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by an official from the press service for the Azerbaijani Ministry for Public Health that after the earthquake, 31 appeals were submitted to the emergency medical aid departments of the Zaqatala and neighbouring Gakh Districts.

According to the official from the Ministry for Public Health, a 63-year-old resident of the Goyam village in the Zaqatala District experienced a sharp increase in blood pressure due to the stress and died.

In Gakh, a 13-year-old girl broke her leg. She was hospitalized to the Gakh District Central Hospital, the spokesman for the Azerbaijani Ministry for Public Health explained.

Cracks have appeared in the houses, but there is no threat of collapse, notes Sadraddin Mamedli, a resident of the city of Balaken, located north of the Zaqatala District.
