Political analysts explain Kremlin's position on Ingush-Chechen border

The authorities of the Russian Federation have not distanced off from the conflict around the agreement on the Ingush-Chechen border, but took a wait-and-see attitude due to the lack of compromise solutions, political analysts believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, said that lawyers were studying the above border agreement; on the other hand, the decision of the Ingush Constitutional Court (CC) caused lawyers' controversies.

There is no reason to believe that either of the parties is a winner, be it Kadyrov, Evkurov or the Ingush opposition, Mikhail Vinogradov, President of the "Saint Petersburg Politics" Foundation, is sure. He has explained that in this situation, the Kremlin feels uncomfortable to make a decision. "This decision may have to do with the infringement of Chechen authorities," the political analyst has concluded, adding that now "the Kremlin does not want to take responsibility for the escalation" and maintains the waiting position, despite the threat of instability in Northern Caucasus.

The Kremlin is trying to keep the situation under control, said Dmitry Travin, a political analyst.
