Eleven killed, wounded in Chechnya

Six Russian military men were killed and five were wounded in Chechnya within 24 hours on 16-17 January, according to a France-Presse source in the republican administration. Three were killed and one person was wounded in the course of 11 attacks of rebels on military positions. Another soldier was killed and two were wounded when their truck was fired at by rebels near Duba-Yurt.

A UAZ vehicle triggered a bomb leading to two soldiers killed and two more wounded in Samashki, Italian-based ASCA news agency says.

It was earlier reported, according to the same source of France-Presse in the Chechen administration, that rebels had killed four Russian military men in the preceding 24 hours on 15-16 January.
